The townhouses on Northover Road, Westover Road and Westover Gardens all look similar and share many of the same thermal issues. Discover what you neighbours have done to their homes to keep warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
You can contact the homeowners throughout November 2024.
The Henbury Hill estate features many three storey townhouses that were built during the 1960's. Their design and construction are all very similar and so they share the same thermal weak-spots and opportunities for retrofitting. Discussion with the homeowners will be of most interest to those living in homes similar to the townhouses with internal garages, but some of the measures they have taken will be of more general interest. A report on the townhouses of Henbury Hill is available and this discusses the common thermal weaknesses and many of the ways to address them.
The home-owners are made expert by thier real-life experience and are not necessarily qualified builders or architects. The organisers of the event are not responsible for the quality of thier work so it's up to you to make your own decisions about whetrher what you are seeing is effective, complies with building regulations and would work in your ownn home.
People participating in the Henbury Hill Green Open Homes event are happy to talk about things they have done and for convienience their e-mail addresses are organised under the following headings or 'houses'. Each subject/house features more than one home, so feel free to contact all those that are of most interest to you.
The larger jobs are orgnaised in the folders above. In the "Townhouse" folder, you can see many smaller, low-cost jobs that have redued draughts and improved comfort.
